It was thought the Clovis people would be of
the same type. The recent find of Kenwick man who's remains date back 9,000
years, and are the oldest human remains in the Americas, show he was decidedly
Caucasian instead of Mongolian. This suggests that the Clovis people may have
been a Caucasoid type ancestral to both the Mongolians and Native Americans.
To deepen the mystery about who the Clovis
people were, There are no Clovis points found in Asia. The Solutrean culture
in Southern France, had a highly developed lithic technology similar to the
Clovis lithic technology in the same period of time.
Perhaps it is a mistake to identify a culture
by a single lithic technology. In my own Canadian culture we have many subcultural
groups using various old and new technologies.
