Within the Arctic Circle we only find micropoints for which there is a good explanation:  In the Arctic Circle flint is more precious than ever because it is more scarce there. Clovis points are large and expensive in terms of flint usage, leaving even Clovis people with the choice of making one Clovis point or half a dozen smaller points out of a piece of flint. In a harsh climate, more points would be more useful. Thus micropoints are the only kind of point found in the Arctic, and it seems they were in use from the earliest times right down to the introduction of modern firearms.

We only know the Clovis people by their artifacts. At the time the theory was first proposed, the physical features of Native Americans were noted to be very similar to those of the Mongolians of Asia.
