I have no doubts that the Scientist has a better understanding of the properties of color, and of the processes involved in color mixing, than the Artist has. In the conflict over what colors make up the Primary Colors, the Scientist has already compromised with the Artist by accepting the Secondary Colors as being Subtractive Primaries, when in fact they could never be true Primary colors of any kind because they are not pure enough to qualify as primary colors.

Perhaps the Artist can compromise a little by calling Magenta, Magenta, instead of calling Magenta Red, and by calling Cyan, Cyan, instead of calling Cyan Blue, and by calling Blue, Blue, instead of calling it Purple or Violet.
