The Yellow filter transmits Red and Green light and
absorbs Blue light. The Magenta Filter transmits Red and Blue light
and absorbs Green light. The Cyan filter transmits Blue and Green light
and absorbs Red light.
Red is the complement of Cyan because
Red is the Additive Primary color missing in Cyan to make up White light.
Cyan already contains the Additive Primary Hues of Blue and Green. Likewise,
Blue is the complement of Yellow, and Green is the complement of Magenta.
