Place the star on one of the horizontal lines so it bisects. the line. Allow the star to drift. Unless your rough alignment was very good, this should only take a couple of minutes. If the star drifts up, use the mount's altitude adjustment knob to move the mount so that the star appears to move further up in the field of view. If the star drifts down, adjust so it appears to move further down. Put the star back on the line. Let the star drift again. Note it takes longer to begin to drift off the line. Repeat the above, putting the star back on the horizontal line each time. Continue these adjustments until the star stays bisected on the line for over 5 minutes without any drift. When this happens, the mount is correctly Polar Aligned. |
