The main advantage of this focuser is that it can support 26 lbs.  You can load it with more than one instrument at a time without worrying about slippage. You can mount an AO-7 Adaptive Optics Tip-Tilt mirror, an ST-8XEI CCD camera, and an CFW8A Color Filter Wheel with all 5 2" LRGBC filters all at the same time.  With the same camera and an SGS Spectrometer you can measure "Red Shift" and stellar temperatures. With only the camera and its software, you can "blink" an area of the sky to detect the movement of distant comets, - all because you have a focuser that can support the back focus and weight of these instruments.
