I first studied Astronomy at the University of Saskatchewan under the watchful eye of Dr. Len Greenburg.  How I remember those cold Saskatchewan nights in January, on the roof of the university's administration building where we took turns aligning our 40" Celestron telescope with the North Star.

What a treat.  Dr. Greenburg was a great one for little sayings, like: "Look up." or "Keep looking up." Those nights were numbing cold, you could only stay out for 5 minutes at a time.

Long before I studied Astronomy, way back in grade 11, I build a reflecting telescope of my own design in which the quality of the main mirror exceeded a six fold improvement over the "Diffraction Limited Optics" boasted about by current commercial telescope makers.  My departure from the normal method of grinding, polishing, and figuring is detailed in this Astronomy section.

While Astrology is a popular pass time, and may even lead some people to an interest in the Science of Astronomy, - there are no Horoscopes at this site.  The myths of Astrology interest me only as an Anthropologist.  The Scientific investigation of the Heavens, Astronomy, is a much more challenging and exciting pursuit.
