Ever since Marco Polo returned to Europe in the 13th century with tales of the Oriental peoples and their great wealth, Europeans have sought to sail Westward around the world to the Oriental lands in the East. In 1492 Christopher Columbus found the Americas, and the great wealth he expected to find, but without the expected Oriental people described by Marco Polo.

Francisco Pizarro was more lucky in 1532, when he found both the Oriental people and the great wealth he expected to find.  This is reflected in the title of his book "El Pais del Oro" which in English is "The Country of the East" synonymous with "The Orient."

It is bad science and poor scholarship when modern investigators fail to incorporate historical facts into their findings.  As for Funk & Wagnalis Corp., Microsoft Corp., and Bill Gates: Their scholarship is sadly lacking. When you look up Inca in the Encyclopedia, you expect to learn more about the Incas themselves, and less about their subjects the Quechua, and the Aymara. When a man tells you he and his family are not members of a specific race of people, it really isn't too smart to contradict him, especially when you have no real evidence to do so.
