Home Made Digital Telescope Guidance System
By
Glen A. Mckerron
One of today's most useful devices for amature Astronomers is the Digital Guidance System that can steer a telescope to any object in the sky down to the last second of arc, called the "Go To" feature. Different commercial models come with different memory capacities, and preprogrammed sky objects. These units work with the telescope's "Tracking System" already supplied by the telescope manufacturer as part of the telescope's mount.
I will design the electronic controls from scratch, and modify the existing tracking system of a commercial heavy duty equatorial mount to work with my controls.
