The CIE Color System was easy to use with
my Web Page's 24 bit RGB color code, and proved to be accurate as well.
Since 87.5% of the color's Blue component
contributes to the Grey Level, the remaining blue must be the Blue that excites
us into seeing Blue instead of Grey. 256 - 224 = 32 Blue. This is 32 / 256 X 100 = 12.5%
which is is close to the measured 11% excitation purity from the CIE diagram.
The Background Color of this page is a Light
Blue color with a dominant wavelength of 486 nanometers, an excitation
purity of 11%, and a luminous transmittance of 87.5%. This color is located at
( 0.29, 0.3 ) 87.5% on the chromacity diagram.
